Hayato Sakamoto from Kawasaki Heavy Industries presented the turbo chiller using R718 as refrigerant which has the comparable performance to existing chillers using HFCs, and is as compact as existing chillers by optimum arrangement.

Hayato Sakamoto is the Assistant Manager of Engineering and Development section. He has 14 years of experience in design and development of turbomachines such as centrifugal blowers and compressors. In 2007, he joined the development team of water refrigerant centrifugal chiller and played an integral role of the development and the commercialization of Kawasaki turbo chiller using R718(water) as a refrigerant. After the launch of this new chiller, he has been engaged in the improvement of technologies and the market development.
