Obed Meringo Baloyi

 

Mr. Obed Meringo Baloyi is Chief Director of Chemicals Management at the Environmental Affairs Department of South Africa since October 2012.
He previously served as Director of Waste Policy and Information Management at the Department, and led the development of the Waste Act, National Waste Management Strategy, Policy on the provision of Basic Waste Services and Domestic Waste Collection Standards.
He also led the development of Ozone Depleting Substances and the PCB regulations. He was instrumental in the negotiations of the Kigali amendment of the Montreal Protocol.
