Douglas Schmidt from compressor manufacturer Embraco explains that propane can be considered as the most interesting refrigerant both for low evaporating temperature field as well as for positive temperature evaporation appliances. Recent EPA SNAP positive conclusion opens opportunity in US household and light commercial refrigeration applications. Douglas Schmidt is the Sales Manager for Embraco’s commercial products in North America. Prior to joining Embraco in 2007, he was the Engineering Manager at a commercial refrigeration manufacture.

Doug has 20 years of experience at various levels designing, manufacturing and providing leadership in the refrigeration industry. He has lead several new product design projects focusing on energy efficiency and the evolution of refrigerants.

Doug holds a B.S. from Purdue University in Mechanical Engineering with a focus study in thermal science.
