René van Gerwen

 

René is a well-known expert with more than 30 years of experience in the global refrigeration and heat pump business. In 2016, he founded his own Engineering & Consultancy company Entropycs. Prior to that, he was global Lead Engineer for Refrigeration and HVAC in Unilever, one of the largest end-users of refrigeration in the world. He dedicated his whole professional life to removing barriers for wider application of sustainable refrigeration and heat pump technologies, focusing on energy efficiency, natural refrigerants like ammonia, hydrocarbons, CO2 and air, as well as alternative technologies like Stirling, magneto-caloric and thermoacoustic refrigeration. He has taken major positions in professional organisations like IIR, IIAR, CEN, NEN, STEK and KNVvK. In 1983, Rene received his MSc degree in Refrigeration & Climate Control at Mechanical Engineering Faculty of Delft University of Technology, Netherlands.
