Martin Millow of Mayekawa Australia analysed the benefits of generating useful hot water using an ammonia heat pump, rather than rejecting the refrigeration system heat, offering an energy efficient method of useful and sustainable hot water generation suitable in a variety of industries. Millow concluded the presentation saying that depending on system operating conditions and applications, ammonia heat pumps can exceed a COP of 8.0.

Mr. Millow has held the position of New Zealand Regional Manager for Mayekawa Australia Pty Ltd since 1997. In this role, he is responsible for the sales, marketing and engineering of Mayekawa Compressor Units and Packages for the Industrial Refrigeration Market of New Zealand. Mr. Millow has been involved in the Industrial Refrigeration Industry for 30 years and has strong interests and motivation in the promotion and use of natural refrigerants within the industrial refrigeration sector.
