Hayato Sakamoto discussed a turbo chiller using water as refrigerant that Kawasaki Heavy Industries introduced in 2013. Chiller water temperature can be controlled within 7±0.3°C, and power consumption is reduced compared to air-conditioning using HFC as refrigerants.

Hayato Sakamoto is the Assistant Manager of Engineering and Development section. He has 14 years of experience in design and development of turbomachines such as centrifugal blowers and compressors. In 2007, he joined the development team of water refrigerant centrifugal chiller and played an integral role of the development and the commercialization of Kawasaki turbo chiller using R718(water) as a refrigerant. After the launch of this new chiller, he has been engaged in the improvement of technologies and the market development.
