Working for EPRI, it is Ron Domitrovic’s job to advise utilities on new energy efficient equipment and he spoke of the growing importance of natural refrigerants and natural refrigerant-based equipment in helping utilities companies reduce demand for their grid. Domitrovic noted how the commercial refrigeration sector is the first area of focus as the systems are among the larger users (and leakers) of refrigerants.

Ron Domitrovic

 

Dr. Ron Domitrovic is a Program Manager in the Power Delivery & Utilization Sector at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), and is responsible for guiding EPRI’s research related to end use energy efficiency. His technical focus is in the area of air conditioning, refrigeration and thermal systems in buildings. Prior to joining EPRI in 2009, he was the President of Redwood Electric Corp. which he founded in 2005 as a specialty construction and consulting company. He was previously a Researcher with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) Buildings Technology Center and the University of Tennessee Thermal Science Research Center. He received a BSc in Civil Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, an MSc from the University of Florida and a PhD from the University of Tennessee.
