Emerson Climate Technologies, a business segment of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), announced it is presenting at the ATMOsphere America 2012 Natural Refrigerants Conference June 12–13 in Washington, D.C., at The Liaison Capitol Hill Hotel.

Sam Gladis, Business Director - Heat Pumps at Vilter, a business of Emerson Climate Technologies, will present the following technical paper:

“Industrial Ammonia Heat Pumps in Food Processing”

The food and beverage industry’s need for energy efficiency and water savings is growing rapidly on a global scale. Over 90 percent of the energy consumed for refrigeration is wasted as heat rejected to the atmosphere. However, industrial heat pumps can capture that wasted heat and significantly lower a plant’s energy and water consumption. Applying a sustainable alternative to the use of fossil fuels as the means to heat water for sanitation, a leading food processor installed an industrial ammonia heat pump, reduced its heating energy costs by 61 percent, reduced its site energy consumption for heating by more than 79 percent, reduced the condenser water consumption by 15 million gallons per year, and delivered a host of additional operational and maintenance savings.
