With only four weeks to go ATMOsphere Europe is approaching fast and today we wanted to inform you about the latest programme updates and announce the Member of the European Parliament who will be speaking at the ATMOsphere Dinner on Tuesday night. We are also partnering up with a NGO to offset again all emissions that are caused by the event and participant travel. In addition, we would like to inform you about the companies that have already registered and will attend this year.

MEP Theodoros Skylakakis and Philippe Delpech from Carrier as dinner speakers

We are glad to announce the second confirmed keynote dinner speaker: Theodoros Skylakakis, Member of the European Parliament and author of a Motion for a Resolution urging the European Union to be more pro-active in reducing non-CO2 climate-relevant gases, especially emissions of fluorinated gases (f-gases). This motion was adopted by the European parliament last week and in reaction to this the European Commissioner responsible for Climate Action, Connie Hedegaard, informed the Parliament that she will be putting forward a legislative proposal that will strengthen the existing EU regulation addressing fluorinated gases (F-Gas Regulation) in 2012. Mr Skylakakis will speak about the motion and future steps in his dinner speech.

In addition, we are proud to also have Philippe Delpech, President of Carrier Europe, Middle East, Africa and Platinum Sponsor as our keynote speaker at the ATMOsphere Europe 2011 dinner on Tuesday night.

A carbon neutral event with the help of "Atmosfair"

A workshop about environmentally friendly technologies needs to do its bit for environmental protection. That is why ATMOsphere Europe has partnered with the organisation Atmosfair to once again ensure it is a carbon neutral event. We will offset the estimated overall amount of 71,000 kg of CO2eq emissions by investing in different renewable energy projects in India. This corresponds to the climate impact of emissions caused by the event.

Our partner in this project - Atmosfair - is a financially independent NGO also supported by the German Federal Environment Agency. Atmosfair has won several awards and always ranked first or among the best among carbon offsetting providers.

You will shortly be able to find more information about the organisation, the projects as well as the certificate in our news.
