Alvaro is a shareholder and co-founder of shecco as an independent entity. He was instrumental in the early success of shecco’s communication platforms (R744.com, hydrocarbons21.com, ammonia21.com) and market research services. With a background in social sciences and international relations, he has spent the last six years working at the European Commission as an Human Resources expert, overseeing several change projects and helping to set up two new Agencies of the EU from scratch. As of March 2016, Alvaro is back at shecco to help its further international development and lead the media team in its efforts to share relevant stories, news and updates on the global transition towards natural refrigerants.

Jan Dusek

Jan holds a Doctor of Engineering degree in System Design from Hosei University in Tokyo and a Master’s degree from the Czech Technical University in Prague. During his studies, and research undertaken in the USA, Europe and Japan, Jan has centered his academic focus on environmental technologies and marketing strategies. Having lived in Japan for over 8 years, Jan communicates fluently in Japanese and has a rich experience cooperating with Japanese industry. Jan is currently based in Tokyo, responsible for business development activities and monitoring Asian markets on behalf of shecco Japan.

In 2000, Abel Gnanakumar joined Emerson Climate Technologies' Asian head quarters as the Manager of the Hong Kong engineering center, where he led several engineering research and development projects in the advancements of HVAC systems, compressor testing and development. In 2007, he took the position of Director of the Refrigeration Marketing (Asia) before becoming Vice President of Refrigeration (Asia) in 2015.

Mr. Kosalwitr has a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Khon Kaen University and a Masters Degree in Business and Administration from Chulalongkorn University. Thanarak Kosalwitr started his career at Siam Cement Group in 1990 and worked at Thai Beverage Public Company Ltd. from 1993-2005. Mr. Kosalwitr has been at Charoen Pokphand Foods since 2005. He is also a lecturer at King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi and has been part of Robotics Cluster, Ministry of Industry and Thai Industrial Standards Institute's working committees.

Anshu Kumar

Anshu Kumar began his career in 1983 as Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Service Technician and now holds a Ph.D. degree in Training. From 2000 onwards he has been working on the phase-out of Ozone Depleting Substances. Anshu has many years of practical experience working with hydrocarbons. He has served as a Consultant to different agencies such as UNICEF, INFRAS, GIZ Proklima, UNDP, UNEP, BEE, ICPCI & Ozone Cell and MoEF India, and was responsible for the training activities on ODS phase-out in India and abroad. In 2012 Anshu joined the UNEP CAP-ROAP Team in Bangkok. He worked  in India on the HCFC Phase-out activities and travelling across Asia handling the respective training workshops. Anshu has co-authored the “Guide for Trainers on Good Servicing Practices in the Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Sector for HCFC Phase-out". From January 2017 he is working as Technical Advisor, MPU/Chemicals, Bangkok Regional Hub, UNDP.

Dr. Tul Manewattana



Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department, Chulalongkorn University

Dr. Tul Manewattana has been involved in the design of many large refrigeration and HVAC projects in Thailand for more than 30 years. He is also a full-time faculty member of Mechanical Engineering Department at Chulalongkorn University since 1980. His teaching subjects include Refrigeration, Ventilation and Air Conditioning for senior mechanical engineering students and Advance Refrigeration and Air Conditioning for graduate engineering students. His past/present positions worth mentioning include Head of Mechanical Engineering Department, President of Air Conditioning Engineering Association of Thailand (ACAT), Officer of ASHRAE Thailand Chapter, ASHRAE Student Branch Advisor and the Advisor of Thai Refrigeration Association (TRA).

Francesco Mastrapasqua

After graduating in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering in 1993 in Padua, Italy, Francesco Mastrapasqua started his career as a Commercial and Marketing Manager in the area of robotic and handling factory automation. Since 2003, he has gained a wide experience in business development, international sales, key account and marketing in several HVAC&R multinational companies. Since 2009 at Epta, he has focused on natural refrigeration and environmentally sustainable systems applied to the commercial retail business.

Epta has a leading position as a turnkey system provider and offers to its clients fully comprehensive assistance and training. from the choice of the ideal solution to its implementation and maintenance, including a permanent training center in the CO2 Excellence Center in the UK.

Philipp Munzinger



Project Manager, GIZ Proklima International

Philipp Munzinger is a project manager with the GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH) PROKLIMA. He manages various projects in the refrigeration and air-conditioning sector with the focus on natural refrigerants and energy efficiency. Munzinger specializes on climate and energy policy and economics, technology transfer and builds on in-depth experience in advising Asian government bodies. He holds a BSc. in Environmental Economics and Business Management and a MSc. in Environmental Sciences.

André Paz Rosa



R&D Senior Manager for Asia-Pacific, Embraco

André Paz Rosa has been working at Embraco since 2003. He has held several roles within the R&D department, where he was a research engineer, product development manager and R&D senior manager for Europe. His current responsibilities include product development and technical support for household and light commercial refrigeration in Asia-Pacific market. André is an electrical engineer and holds an M.Sc. in scientific metrology.

The world’s first Multi Function 2 Stage Transcritical CO2 Refrigerating System with Parallel Compression (MF2STCCO2RSPC) has now been operating seven years, performing six cooling and nine heating functions at a small food processing plant.
Commissioning of the second MR2STCC02RSPC system near Sydney has been delayed. It is the first CO2 system in the world employing an evaporative condenser/gas cooler (ECGC). 
A case study comparing ECGCs and Adiabatically Assisted Air Cooled CO2 Gas Coolers in terms of their Energy and Water Consumption and the COP Improvement of the refrigeration systems at ambient Wet Bulb Temperatures up to 28 degrees C – not exceeded in 98% of the World’s climates - achieving 31 degrees C Gas Cooler Exit Temperature.   
The design of a MF2STCC02RSPC with an ECGC for a −30°C 40,000 cubic metre cold store near Kuala Lumpur is complete and waiting for building approval.
