Marc Chasserot



CEO, shecco

Marc Chasserot is a specialist in natural refrigeration with over 15 years of experience in the HVAC&R sector, starting as the Marketing Manager for the Norsk Hydro business unit specialised in CO2 transcritical refrigeration and heating. He worked closely with several Japanese manufacturers selling the market innovative "CO2 Ecocute heatpumps".

In 2006 Marc founded the industry leading website for CO2 cooling and heating experts worldwide, called www.R744.com. This was followed by three additional industry resources for hydrocarbons, water and ammonia (namely: www.hydrocarbons21.com, www.R718.com and www.ammonia21.com).

Marc is co-founder and CEO of shecco, an independent market development company specialised in bringing Natural Refrigerants 'faster to market', working with numerous companies worldwide. Marc has chaired and organised several international workshops bringing together leading policy and industry experts to discuss 'how to bring natural refrigerants' faster to market, known as 'ATMOsphere'. He is also an active member of ASHRAE.

Barbara Gschrey



Policy advisor and Managing Director, Öko-Recherche

Barbara Gschrey has been working for Öko-Recherche since 2009 and managed the preparatory study for the EU Commission in the context of the review of the F-Gas Regulation. She holds in-depth knowledge about use and emissions of fluorinated greenhouse gases and relevant business sectors.

Avipsa Mahapatra



Climate Campaign Lead, Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA)

Avipsa is the Climate Campaign Lead at EIA. During her five years in working on a global phase down of HFCs, Avipsa was instrumental in EIA’s international strategy formulation, overseeing technical and policy work and bringing a deep understanding of A5 concerns and relationships to the broader team. Avipsa joined EIA with over five years of climate policy management and implementation experience. She has previously worked for the World Resources Institute in developing a framework for emerging economies to initiate emissions reporting programs, and at Development Alternatives, a leading Indian research and action NGO, managing a carbon-reduction and environmental monitoring program via a large network of  diverse civil society organizations. She was an official member of the Indian delegation to UNFCCC COP 14, has also worked with the Earth Institute New York, WWF Norway, 350.org and PowerShift. She has graduate degrees from Columbia University in Climate Science and Public Policy and from the Energy and Resources Institute in India in Natural Resources Management, and held a research fellowship at Yale University in sustainable urban transport.

Janos Maté



Campaigner , Greenpeace International

Janos Maté has represented Greenpeace International at the Meeting of the Parties, OEWG, and the ExComm since 1992. He was an early advocate for accelerated HCFC and HFC phase-outs. He vigorously promoted the uptake of natural refrigerants and insulation agents.  He authored numerous Greenpeace position and research papers, some of which were reprinted in governmental and UN publications. In 2001 Janos Maté co-founded the SolarChill Project, that pioneered the development of solar direct drive, HFC and lead-acid battery free vaccine coolers and food refrigerators for regions of the world without reliable electricity. Mr. Maté  is the recipient of the 2007 UN  Montreal Protocol Partnership Award, and the 2010 US EPA Montreal Protocol Award.

Clare Perry



Climate Campaign Leader, Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA)

Clare Perry has worked with the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) since 1998. As a climate campaign leader, she currently leads EIA’s climate campaign, which aims to reduce emissions of fluorinated gases and improve enforcement of multilateral environmental agreements designed to curb trade in harmful chemicals. She has attended meetings of the Montreal Protocol since 2007, was closely involved in the revision of the EU F-Gas Regulation, and advocates the use of climate-friendly alternatives to HFCs in multiple fora. Clare graduated from the University of Southampton in 1993 with a BSc in biology and subsequently gained a Masters degree in coastal zone management.

Sidi Menad Si Ahmed



Former UNIDO Director of the Montreal Protocol Branch, United Nations Industrial Development Organization

Mr. Si Ahmed is the former Director of the Montreal Protocol Branch of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and was also the Director of the Multilateral Environmental Agreements Branch of UNIDO. Before joining UNIDO, he was a director of environmental studies at the Ministry of Environment in Algeria.
