Eric Johnston, Principal Engineer at ConAgra Foods, Inc., provided a brief introduction to the company and its products. He spoke about ConAgra Foods' experience with anhydrous ammonia, which is employed in 27 of the company's 38 plants with significant refrigeration systems, emphasising that with proper handling, operating and maintaining, ammonia refrigeration systems are just as safe as any other refrigerant system.

Eric Johnston has been a Principal Engineer for ConAgra Foods since 2008. He is responsible for the company-wide over site of the Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plans (RMP) for Anhydrous Ammonia Refrigeration, Hydrogen Generation Systems, and Selective Catalytic Reduction systems. He is involved in the development, implementation, training, and auditing associated with compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations and of PSM / RMP programs since 1997. Eric is a member of the IIAR Standards Committee, Vice President of the Omaha RETA Chapter, and on the Advisory Board for the IRC.
