In his presentation, Derek Hamilton demonstrates how lower installation costs, better efficiency, and lower operational costs can be achieved by using the latest aluminum heat exchanger technology coupled with low-pressure receiver systems. This results in high efficiency ammonia systems with a minimal ammonia inventory.

About the speaker(s)

Derek Hamilton

Derek is Business Development Manager at Azane Inc, the US subsidiary of Star Refrigeration. Azane manufacture low charge, high efficiency ammonia refrigeration packages for the US market.

Derek joined the Star Refrigeration Group in 2005 and has held the position of Senior Design Engineer and Design Manager before moving to his current role at Azane. Derek has extensive experience in the design and manufacture of ammonia refrigeration and heat pump systems. In recent years, Derek led the development of a range of low charge, packaged, air cooled ammonia refrigeration systems which allow modular installation without the need for a machinery room. Derek has a keen interest in the promotion of low charge ammonia as an excellent solution for R22 system replacement and an ideal alternative to HFCs in many applications.

Derek is Chartered with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, is an active member of IIAR, IIR and IOR and is a regular contributor to industry events and publications.
