Amad Hafez of Modelo Continente Hipermercados, presents SONAE’s efforts towards minimising the negative environmental impact of F-gases. Furthermore, he addresses the challenge of adopting CO2 technologies in warm climates like in Portugal and Spain. So far SONAE's tests have proved hydrocarbon and CO2 cascade systems to be suitable for warm climates.

Amad Hafez

 

Amad Hafez started at SONAE MC in 2012, in the department of equipment and construction, taking responsibility for the management of the cooling projects for both new stores and re-builds. He has been applying and constantly looking for new solutions in the area of commercial refrigeration by making the stores more sustainable both energetically and environmentally.

He is a graduate in Electrotechnical engineering from the Institute of Engineering of Lisbon, Portugal (ISEL), and holds a master's degree in Mechanical engineering with specialty in power, HVAC and refrigeration. Previously, Amad worked at Arneg Portugal where he was responsible for the department of technical assistance and projects.
