Kazuhiro Takahashi from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) provided an overview of international discussions related to reductions of ozone depleting and climate forcing refrigerants. He highlighted that the priority of the Japanese government within the Montreal Protocol is to achieve steady phase-down of ODS and fully support developing countries through the Multilateral Fund while actively supporting low GWP technologies. Takahashi concluded by stressing that 2014 will see extensive discussions on global HFCs reduction that will create an opportunity for promoting natural refrigerants as low GWP alternative.
