Eric MacGregor from Versatile Refrigeration International focused on hydrocarbon technology, discussing the first installation in North America of a secondary refrigeration system using propylene (R1270) as the primary refrigerant. The system is already proving successful, maintaining optimal temperature throughout the year and being praised by building operators for its ease of operation and the small amount of maintenance required.

Eric is a graduate of the British Columbia Institute of Technology, with a Diploma of Trades Training. He holds a Canadian Red Seal certification as a Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic and is a Class C Welder and Class B Gasfitter. He has ten years experience in the HVAC and refrigeration industry. His experience includes technical service for a geothermal heat pump manufacturer, as well as extensive geo-exchange design and installation, including ground loop, horizontal, vertical, and pond, lake, and ocean water loops, in addition to open loop systems.

Eric is the owner of Versatile Refrigeration International Inc and Versatile Refrigeration USA Inc.; companies primarily specializing in secondary refrigeration systems as well as controlled atmosphere systems for storage warehouses. Both companies also design, install, and service custom refrigeration systems for land based aqua-culture operations. VRI is currently one among few companies working on custom built Hydrocarbon chillers in North America, and recently completed the first Hydrocarbon chillers built by Frigadon to be installed in the United States.
