Becken discusses Germany’s experience and challenges with implementing the EU F-Gas Regulation, the National / International Climate Initiative, further funding of projects with natural refrigerants and findings of the German Federal Environment Agency (UBA) report “Avoiding fluorinated greenhouse gases” according to which natural refrigerants can be effectively applied in most applications.

Katja Becken

 

Katja Becken is a Senior Policy Advisor at the German Federal Environment Agency. For over 15 years she has been responsible for issues regarding ozone depleting substances and fluorinated greenhouse gases. Her work field consists of policies and measures to reduce F-gas emissions at national and European level, with a special focus on natural refrigerants. She obtained her degree from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany, after studying environmental engineering and technical chemistry. She complemented her studies with courses in environmental management at the University of Nottingham, UK.
