SANDEN, a leader in automotive air conditioning compressors and CO2 heat pumps, has announced that it will support the 3rd annual ATMOsphere America 2014 conference as a Silver Sponsor. The conference will take place from 18-19 June in San Francisco, California.

A specialist in the building of automotive air conditioning compressors for light vehicles, heavy trucks, agricultural equipment, construction vehicles, buses and other special applications, Sanden USA supplies automotive compressors and other HVAC components to companies throughout North and South America and the rest of the world. The company is at the forefront of the industry in the areas of computer-aided product design, comprehensive testing and precision manufacturing.

At its compressor manufacturing headquarters in Wylie, Texas and its clutch component manufacturing site and new compressor assembly plant in Saltillo, Mexico, as well as its other production sites around the world, Sanden’s products undergo rigorous quality-control standards at each stage of assembly. During product testing, environmentally controlled chambers and wind tunnels can simulate conditions of almost any temperature, humidity and vehicle speed. Computer-controlled vibration “shaker tables” can precisely replicate a variety of road conditions.

Next step products for the US market

Sanden’s commitment to environmental excellence remains a cornerstone philosophy of the corporation, which is why it has developed several high efficiency products using CO2 technology. Its split-type domestic hot water heat pump system, which was originally launched in Japan, operates in conditions from -13°F to 104°F. Using CO2 as the primary refrigerant, it provides both energy and environmental efficiency. Sanden’s heat pump range also includes an integrated-type domestic hot water system for internal home installation. Recently, Washington State University Energy Program started field tests with Sanden’s split units at 4 single family homes in Montana, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon respectively. Since the installation, the heat pump water heaters have been providing sufficient hot water to the home owners without backup heater elements, even when temperatures reached to -14°F.

The Combi System, which also uses CO2 technology, is able to provide water at very high temperatures with the added functionality of space heating. The system is comprised of two units, a heat pump for heating domestic hot water and a heat pump for space heating. The Combi System has a capacity of 36,000 or 40,000 BTUH. Sanden plans to launch this product on the US market very soon.
