EOS Climate, a leader in leveraging carbon markets to ensure the complete life cycle management of refrigerants, has announced that it will support the 3rd annual ATMOsphere America 2014 as a Silver Sponsor. Company Chief Business Development Officer, Joe Madden, will also chair a workshop at ATMOsphere on 19 June in the afternoon.

EOS Climate’s projects in the U.S. and world prevent emissions of powerful greenhouse gases, while accelerating the transition to cutting edge sustainable technologies across multiple industrial, commercial and consumer sectors. EOS’s initial focus was on the management of refrigerants recovered from older air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. Since 2010, its projects have delivered more than 3 million metric tons of CO2-equivalent in emissions reductions.

In treating refrigerants as assets, EOS creates financial value for refrigerant end-users, while helping the environment. EOS Climate has core competencies in developing and managing economic and financial structures that transform markets and create incentives for environmental best practices.

EOS Climate's Refrigerant Revolution™

EOS Climate’s Refrigerant Revolution™ (RAS) is the first cross-sector business model that focuses on refrigerants as assets. It is a partnership of leading industry companies working to revolutionize end-of-life refrigerant management. Organizations have the opportunity to move above and beyond compliance requirements toward complete life-cycle management and demonstrate environmental sustainability leadership. The Refrigerant Asset System allows businesses to manage refrigerants as assets, investing in their conservation and maintenance, and monetizing them when they have reached the end of their useful life.

RAS provides refrigerant-intensive industries, such as supermarkets, hotels and manufacturers of refrigeration and HVAC equipment, with multiple asset optimization paths for their refrigerants. It deploys integrated technology across the refrigerant value chain to track every pound of refrigerant from the point of purchase through to the end of life, delivering information for compliance reporting and advanced sustainability metrics and enabling refrigerant owners to capture value from their assets.

Cooperation with Carrier

One program falling under EOS Climate’s Refrigerant Revolution™ was a partnership with Carrier, a global leader in high-technology heating, air conditioning and refrigeration solutions, through which the responsible end-of-life management of used refrigerants was ensured. After only two years, the program had prevented 111,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions, the equivalent of removing 23,000 passenger vehicles from the road for a year. It ensured that used CFC refrigerants and their resulting greenhouse gases were destroyed in compliance with standards established by the Climate Action Reserve and the California Air Resources Board. This program is available to all Carrier commercial customers.
