Carel: Commercial CO₂ refrigeration and Japanese experience by Tadao Sekiguchi

Taking full advantage of Carel’s expertise in the European market, the company is driving new business into the Asian HVAC&R market, including China and Japan. New CO₂ installations, such as a recent one in Osaka, show the success of a booster system with four compressors, perfectly equipped for low temperature applications.  This case study will showcase how an “intrinsic complex technology” can be fully optimized on one side whilst being extremely easy to understand and use on the other, all thanks to an integrated and intuitive control systems directly applied in field installation.

Already a standard for applications such as sanitary heaters, carbon dioxide heat pumps have already proven to outperform conventional electric heaters, like gas, oil or electric boilers. To further improve on the limitations of the size of the heat pumps in larger applications (where several heat pumps need to be used, which often leads to higher financial investments), this practical example will show the advantage of larger compressors. Based on a large-scale hotel, discover how Dorin manages to reduce energy costs for the end user by using an improved CO₂ heat pump.

With already a larger success rate in household, light commercial and DC-powered compressors, Secop will present in this talk how their new R290 speed compressors can improve the energy efficiency in classical stand-alone bottle coolers. With a specific focus on the Japanese market, this case study will show how costs can be cut by up to 35% compared to the traditional cooling fluid R134a, whilst increasing the COP by 25%. Using a combination of component and design optimization with the newest design in glass doors and vacuum panels, this new compressor will change everything you knew about hydrocarbons in smaller applications.

CoolTech: Magnetic Refrigeration – Light commercial refrigeration deployment and new development for refrigeration rack systems by Vincent Delecourt
