At the 2012 ATMOsphere Bangkok side-event to the 32nd Open-Ended Working Group (OEWG 32) meeting, Janos Maté from Greenpeace presented the 2012 interim report ‘Cool Technologies: Working Without HFCs’. The report demonstrates that natural refrigerant-based technologies exist in most of heating and cooling sectors and that companies are rapidly moving away from HFCs.

During the ATMOsphere Bangkok 2012 held on 27 July, Natasha Hurley from the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) presented the key findings of the newly released fourth edition ‘Chilling Facts’ report. For the first time, the EIA has extended the geographical scope of the survey and included ten European retailers in addition to seven in the UK.

For the fourth time, the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) has published its annual report ‘Chilling Facts’ evaluating the progress of UK and other European food retailers in adopting HFC-free refrigeration. The report shows that a wave of climate-friendly supermarkets is spreading across Europe, however, challenges remain in Southern and Eastern Europe.
