Micael Antonsson

Micael Antonsson, Director and Cofounder of Green & Cool, a manufacturer of CO₂ refrigeration and heat pump technology, acquired in 2010 by UTC and since 1st. of December 2014 a division within Profroid SA. He has over 35 years of experience in refrigeration and is one of the pioneers with a history of installing Transcritical CO₂ for more fifteen years.

Antoine Azar

Antoine graduated from the University of Liège in Belgium, with a Master's degree in electro-mechanical & energy engineering. Antoine worked at the Coca-Cola Company for 16 years. Between July 2011 - December 2016 he held the position of global program director of Coca-Cola’s sustainable refrigeration program. Prior to that, Antoine performed as the maintenance manager and worked in various departments including engineering, design and innovation, quality control and telecommunication.

Katja Becken

Katja Becken is a Senior Policy Advisor at the German Federal Environment Agency. For over 15 years she has been responsible for issues regarding ozone depleting substances and fluorinated greenhouse gases. Her work field consists of policies and measures to reduce F-gas emissions at national and European level, with a special focus on natural refrigerants. She obtained her degree from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany, after studying environmental engineering and technical chemistry. She complemented her studies with courses in environmental management at the University of Nottingham, UK.

Dave Blinkhorn

A career spanning over 20 years within the refrigeration sector, with particular focus on food production & food service applications, has enabled Dave to accumulate a wealth of design and application experience. From designing a large food production cold storage facility through to specifying and installing a CO₂ HOTREC refrigeration system, Dave is able to provide the specifier with correct advice along with a robust & efficient system design. Recognised as one of the UK’s leading CO₂ refrigeration system designers he is now able to bring the benefits of CO₂ into the food production and service sector with his specific application based knowledge.

Dave is the Technical Director and a shareholder within Green Cooling, which is a business focused around delivering the most sustainable & efficient refrigeration system. With a particular focus on natural refrigerants, Green Cooling provides a complete service from interpreting a project brief through to system design equipment selection and installation/commissioning.

Jan Boone

After finishing the mechanical engineering degree in Brussels, Jan Boone started working with MAYEKAWA (MYCOM) since 1979 in heavy duty industrial gas compressors. His experience was built-up as member of most of the company divisions from sales, engineering, production, quality, and service activities with profound interaction with Mayekawa Japan with focus on customer relations and optimised product-operation in the field.

Mayekawa focuses on natural refrigerants. In fact, the company is applying NH₃ since more than 85 years and CO₂ as well as hydrocarbons since more than 40 years.

Anthony Bour

Anthony Bour is and industrial engineer with a Master in Logistics and with 10 years of experience from various industries and roles such as Quality Manager in aeronautics, Project Manager in Power Transformer and Product Expert in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning equipment. Today Bour is responsible for the CryoTech portfolio in Europe at Thermo King, ensuring the development of the product and CO2 filling infrastructure in line with the market needs.

Juergen Brenneis

Juergen has started at Red Bull in March 2008 as Product Manager Retail within the Global Purchasing Department and since February 2013, Juergen is heading the Global Purchasing Team for Point of Sale Materials. He has implement the ECO Cooler strategy and has successfully driven the phase out of HFC refrigerants since 2008. In his position he is globally responsible for all technical and commercial aspects for the Red Bull Cooler fleet.

Garry Broadbent

Having worked within the heating and cooling sector for over 25 years Garry has gained a wide range of application experience within a variety of industry sectors. This experience ranges from providing low temperature cooling through to hot water system design. Garry’s area of specialism lies within the field of integrated systems, bringing the delivery of refrigeration based simultaneous heating & cooling together with fossil fuel & renewable heating systems in order to maximise levels of both sustainability and efficiency. Natural refrigerants and in particular CO₂ play a part within these integrated systems particularly with regard to the delivery of high temperature hot water. 

Garry is the Commercial Director and a shareholder within Green Cooling, which is a business focused around delivering the most sustainable & efficient refrigeration system. With a particular focus on natural refrigerants, Green Cooling provides a complete service from interpreting a project brief through to system design equipment selection and installation/commissioning.

Marco Buoni

Ing. Marco Buoni, a European expert in refrigeration and air conditioning, has been the Vice President of AREA (Air conditioning and Refrigeration European Association) since 2010. AREA voices the interests of 20 national associations from 17 European countries, representing more than 13,000 companies, which employ some 110,000 people. Buoni is also an expert in capacity building in refrigeration and air conditioning, leading the training activities related to certification and best practices. He is highly active as the Technical Director of Centro Studi Galileo in the organisation of training and conferences in refrigeration technologies worldwide. Every year he leads over 300 training courses for up to 3000 participants.

John Burden

Johnson Controls is a world leader in providing energy efficient refrigeration solutions. John Burden is responsible for the sales of Industrial Refrigeration projects across the UK & Ireland, offering a full design, construction, installation and commissioning service. He is a technically and commercially astute qualified professional in his field of industrial refrigeration, contract design and sales. He has been in the organisation for nearly 30 years and has held various positions from Apprentice, Design Manager through to Sales Manager.

Marc Chasserot

Marc Chasserot is a specialist in natural refrigeration with over 15 years of experience in the HVAC&R sector, starting as the Marketing Manager for the Norsk Hydro business unit specialised in CO₂ transcritical refrigeration and heating. He worked closely with several Japanese manufacturers selling the market innovative "CO₂ Ecocute heatpumps".

In 2006 Marc founded the industry leading website for CO₂ cooling and heating experts worldwide, called www.R744.com. This was followed by three additional industry resources for hydrocarbons, water and ammonia (namely: www.hydrocarbons21.com, www.R718.com and www.ammonia21.com).

Marc is co-founder and CEO of shecco, an independent market development company specialised in bringing Natural Refrigerants 'faster to market', working with numerous companies worldwide. Marc has chaired and organised several international workshops bringing together leading policy and industry experts to discuss 'how to bring natural refrigerants' faster to market, known as 'ATMOsphere'. He is also an active member of ASHRAE.

Philippe Chemouny

Philippe Chemouny has been with Environment Canada for 20 years and has been involved with the Montreal Protocol over the past 16 years. As Canada’s representative on the Executive Committee of the Montreal Protocol’s Multilateral Fund, he has contributed to the design of guidelines for the development and implementation of phase-out projects in key sectors where ozone-depleting substances and HFCs are used. He chaired the Multilateral Fund’s Executive Committee in 2007 and has been the facilitator of Production Sector Sub-group in most years since 2002. Between 2000 and 2010, he managed Canada’s bilateral program under the Multilateral Fund. Since 2009, he has collaborated with the Mexico and the United States in putting forward every year a North American Proposal to amend the Montreal Protocol to phase down HFC consumption and production. Together with colleagues from the US, he currently co-leads the HFC Initiative of the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC), which is undertaking a number of activities to promote climate-friendly alternatives to HFCs globally.

Ezra Clark

Dr Ezra Clark is a Programme Officer in OzonAction, United Nations Environment Programme, Division of Technology, Industry and Economics, which works to assist developing countries & countries with economies in transition (CEITs) to achieve & sustain compliance with the Montreal Protocol. His main work focuses of work are the phase-out of HCFCs and compliance and enforcement issues.

José Miguel Corberán

JJosé Miguel Corberán is a professor of Applied Thermodynamics at the Universitat Politecnica de Valencia, Spain. He is currently Director of the Institute for Energy Engineering. His R&D activity is mainly concentrated on Heat Transfer, Refrigeration Equipment, Heat Pumps, Geothermal Systems, and Energy Systems in general. Professor Corberán has 25 years of experience in leading RTD projects. He has led around 20 R&D projects for Institutions and companies, and has been involved in a number of international cooperative projects of the EU Framework Programme. He is Vice-president of the Commission B2 (Refrigerating Equipment) of the International Institute of Refrigeration and President of the IIR Working Party on Refrigerant Charge Reduction in Refrigeration Systems.

Luca Costantini

Luca Costantini is founder and owner of BLUPURA , an Italian manufacturing company of mains fed watercoolers. After years of experience in this industry, BLUPURA was founded 8 years ago with the goal to be the first in the watercooler industry to use natural refrigerants (R290). In 2015 Blupura is still the sole watercoolers manufacturer in the world to use R290 instead of R134 , exporting 80% of its turnover. Now the company is also working with R600 hydrocarbon refrigerant.

Paul de Larminat

Dr Paul de Larminat has been with YORK / Johnson Controls for almost 40 years, in various R&D and engineering positions. Among other key innovations, he pioneered the development of magnetic bearing centrifugal technologies within YORK. He is now focusing on the development of large high temperature heat pumps for district heating and industrial applications. He is also closely involved in the ecodesign process in EU and in the global discussions toward the reduction of HFCs worldwide

Michel de Rooij

Michel is the creator of the Next Week Open process, meaning a full store remodeling in eight days, inventor of a totally prefabricated and self-contained cooling/freezing/heating machine room with integrated heat pump, operating on residual heat from the refrigeration system, ending the use of natural gas. He is the developer of Ahold's own refrigeration furniture designs and technology, making energy saving day covers, high energy efficient fans and energy efficient LED lighting proactively driven by the organization itself. He is the driving force behind processes and innovations concerning sustainability, product quality, energy use, environmental- and economic responsibilities.

Eric Delforge

Eric Delforge joined Mayekawa in 2004. Previously he worked for several screw compressor manufacturers managing European activities. At Mayekawa, he handles European sales in industrial refrigeration, gas processing, cryogenics, heat pumps and food processing. The main focus of his work consists of the integration of heating and cooling into smart energy and thermal storage solutions. He advocates natural refrigerant-based technology applications across all industrial markets. He represents Mayekawa in various market sector organizations, actively informing its members on Mayekawa product developments and innovative applications. He also acts as a consultant and business lead with Mayekawa's large global accounts.

Jean-Michel Fleury

As Assets Director for Carrefour group, Jean Michel Fleury carries out strategic projects. Among them, he is in charge of switching over current commercial refrigeration systems using synthetic gas to natural refrigerants. Moreover and according to the sustainable development policy of Carrefour, he leads the objectives regarding increasing energy savings for countries throughout the world where Carrefour operates.

Previously Jean Michel Fleury has been Asia Procurement Director, based 8 years in Shanghai, where he drove sourcing for Asian countries, performing international tenders, and seting up global agreements. Furthermore since sustainable development is at the heart of Carrefour’s strategy, he also tested and set up some new equipments and devices in China which have proven their reliability and contribute to environmental sustainability.

Torben Funder-Kristensen

Torben Funder-Kristensen has a Master degree in Engineering (physics) and he received his Ph.D. in 1994 from the Technical University of Denmark (laser processing). Since 1995, Torben has been with Danfoss in Denmark holding various positions from consultancy within materials science and manufacturing processing to product development of controls components. He has been the Vice President of Product Development and from 2011 the head of Public Industry Affairs for refrigeration and air conditioning controls. He is a member of several internal and external boards and working groups within the industry.

Sylvain Gillaux

After working within the automotive division, Sylvain has been involved for the past 7 years in the diversification programme at SANDEN Europe in France. He first coordinated the diversification project team at SANDEN Manufacturing Europe, then established the Advanced Product Management department before starting his current position. Since the recent creation of SANDEN Environmental Solutions branch, Sylvain is responsible for business development in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Sylvain holds a double French-German degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Karlsruhe, and a Master of Science from Arts et Métiers ParisTech.

Sergio Girotto

Sergio Girotto graduated from Padova University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 2004 he founded Enex srl, a company specialising in refrigeration and heat pump systems based on natural refrigerants. Before this, he worked in the field of commercial refrigeration for almost 20 years, covering various technical roles including design, research and development as well as manufacturing.

Juergen Goeller

Juergen Goeller was elected to the Steering Committee of EPEE and as the Chairman of EPEE for a term of two years by the 2014 Annual General Assembly of EPEE.

Juergen Goeller joined Carrier in January 2008 as Director Research, Development & Engineering for Carrier Commercial Refrigeration Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA) and was then appointed to the position of Director Marketing, Key Account Management and Communications for Carrier Commercial Refrigeration EMEA in October 2008.

Next he held consecutive positions as Director Sustainability and Communications for Carrier EMEA, Director Sustainability for Carrier EMEA and Carrier Transicold EMEA and Director Sustainability for UTC Climate, Controls & Security EMEA before he was appointed to his actual position of Director Sustainability for Carrier Transicold & Refrigeration Systems in November 2013.

Prior to joining Carrier, Juergen held successive management roles with growing responsibility in Operations, Engineering and General Management in the Refrigeration and Material Handling Division of the Linde Group and the Alexanderwerk AG.

Juergen holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the Technical University of Darmstadt/ Germany and a post-graduate degree in business administration from the Open University of Hagen/ Germany.

Vicente Guilabert

Vicente Guilabert is currently the Vice General Manager leading R&D and Quality at Huayi Compressor Barcelona, S.L. He has an Industrial Engineer degree from the “Universidad Politecnica de Catalunya” and a PDD from the IESE Business School. He has made an extensive professional career within the HVAC&R sector. Mr. Guilabert is currently the head of the R&D team at Huayi Compressor Group for light commercial refrigeration compressors. He has an outstanding knowledge of the hermetic compressor technologies, combined with great expertise in light commercial refrigeration market trends. He has also participated as a speaker in international conferences.

Before joining Huayi Compressor Barcelona 15 years ago, he worked for Hitachi Air Conditioning for 5 years as the Technical Customer Service Centre Manager. His responsibilities were linked to the technical assistance of customers worldwide.

Udo Görner

Udo Görner joined Epta in 2000. As Technical Director he is responsible for engineering design, turnkey project management and support the Epta Group system engineering. He is further an active member of the VDMA 24247 working group - energy efficiency of refrigeration systems - and CEN Technical Committee 182 – EN378.

He started his professional activities as a project manager for supermarket, industrial and commercial refrigeration systems. In over 35 years he has collected experience in different refrigeration applications and management functions for engineering, installation, service, production and sales. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Karlsruhe.

Amad Hafez

Amad Hafez started at SONAE MC in 2012, in the department of equipment and construction, taking responsibility for the management of the cooling projects for both new stores and re-builds. He has been applying and constantly looking for new solutions in the area of commercial refrigeration by making the stores more sustainable both energetically and environmentally.

He is a graduate in Electrotechnical engineering from the Institute of Engineering of Lisbon, Portugal (ISEL), and holds a master's degree in Mechanical engineering with specialty in power, HVAC and refrigeration. Previously, Amad worked at Arneg Portugal where he was responsible for the department of technical assistance and projects.

Armin Hafner

Professor Dr.-Ing. Armin Hafner has recently started at NTNU Department of Energy and Process Engineering in Trondheim, Norway, as a professor in refrigeration technology. During the past two decades Armin has been working at SINTEF with research topics related to CO₂ refrigeration technology applied in various applications.

Torben M. Hansen

Torben M. Hansen has worked with refrigeration during his entire professional career. Among the merits is an ASHRAE research project as well as more than 30 published international papers on refrigeration and former CDIG board membership. He is the Director and Cofounder of ADVANSOR A/S, a manufacturer of CO₂ refrigeration and heat pump technology. Since November 2011, Advansor was acquired by Hill Phoenix (US) and Torben Hansen is thrilled with the new commitments in making CO₂ a global commercial technology.

Christian Heerup

Christian holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering supplemented by 30 years’ experience within refrigeration, including solutions for supermarkets, cold stores, heat recovery and air conditioning systems with focus on natural refrigerants CO₂ and hydrocarbons.

Christian has initiated several projects aiming at reducing climate impact and optimizing energy performance and he share his discoveries when delivering training courses in CO₂ refrigeration.

Kent Hofmann

Kent is an experienced engineer with over 30 years service in the HVAC and refrigeration industry covering consultancy, subcontracting, wholesale and manufacturing, with a special interest in energy efficiency and natural refrigerants. He has experience in systems using ammonia, propane, water and carbon dioxide and how to integrate these in supermarkets, industry and other commercial buildings. He joined the sales team at Green & Cool in mid 2010 to sell and promote trans-critical CO₂ systems in Europe.

Venu Kandi

Venu Kandi has more than 9 years of work experience in HVAC&R industry with various responsibilities in Engineering, Quality and Product Management Marketing. He is currently working as a Product Manager in Refrigeration Marketing at Emerson Climate Technologies, based in the headquarters in Aachen, Germany. Kandi holds a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from RWTH Aachen University, Germany.

Motoyuki Kumakura

Mr. Kumakura joined the Environment Agency in 1994. He was in charge of climate change policy, air pollution policy, nature conservation, nuclear safety. Mr. Kumakura later became the Director of the Office of Fluorocarbons Control Policy in Climate Change Policy Division. He currently holds this position in the Global Environment Bureau within the Ministry of the Environment, Government of Japan.

Jo Leinen

Leinen has been a member of the European Parliament for the Socialist Group since 1999. Prior to that, he was a member of the Committee of the Regions and the Council of Europe Congress of Local and Regional Authorities from 1995 to 1999. From 1985 to 1994, he served as the Minister for Environment in Saarland, Germany. Leinen was the Chairman of the European Parliament Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety from 2009 to 2012.

Leinen studied Law and Economics in Saarbrücken and Bonn. He holds a Law degree and a Certificate of Advanced European Studies from the College of Europe. In 1985, Leinen was awarded the German Environment Foundation Prize.

Wolfgang Lohbeck

Wolfgang Lohbeck studied architecture at the RWTH Aachen and, after receiving his diploma in 1971, worked as an architect for 12 years. Wolfgang left his architectural career to join Greenpeace in 1983. After some years of campaigning, for issues mostly related to air quality issues, traffic, and forestation, in Germany and Switzerland, he started working against CFCs and F-gases in 1987. After the launch of Greenfreeze in 1993 Wolfgang became responsible for solutions and "positive projects" for Greenpeace Germany. In the context of campaigning for peace and disarmament since 2002, he completed his Masters degree in Peace Research at Hamburg University.

Timothy Lorkin

Timothy Lorkin is a business oriented (HEC Paris MBA) Chartered Engineer (UK: Institute of Engineering & Technology), who has been based in Paris for over 20 years as a Systems Integration Expert at Bosch. He has obtained Brake-by-Wire patents amongst other systems innovations in the Automotive & Aerospace sectors. Since 2012 he has been actively developing Magnetic Refrigeration as a potential industrial product and supports international standards development since 2014. Mr. Lorkin has also served as Chairman of an IIR-IIF Industry sub-working group since 2014, working to establish common standards for the technology globally via the IIR-IIF members and academia.

Diego Malimpensa

After graduating with a degree in Engineering from Padua University, Diego Malimpensa joined CAREL in 2006 working as a Product Manager for food retail refrigeration field controllers. He is now in charge of the business management of the “CAREL retail sistema” portfolio, coordinating the deployment of CAREL's solution for food retail systems. As a marketer, he is directly involved in product design and the development of emerging technologies. During the last few years, he has been focusing on CO₂ solutions and BLDC compressors applied in commercial refrigeration.

Nina Masson

Nina has been working with shecco for 11 years in various roles, including Deputy Managing Director shecco SPRL and Chief Market Development Officer shecco group. Today, as Chief Strategy Advisor for Special Projects, she is responsible for EU and UN projects for natural refrigerants and sustainable HVAC&R solutions. She holds two Masters’ degrees in Business Management and in Environmental Management. Nina has been the lead author on various publications. She serves as an independent expert for UN and EU agencies on policy analysis, capacity building, renewable energies and energy efficiency.

Francesco Mastrapasqua

After graduating in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering in 1993 in Padua, Italy, Francesco Mastrapasqua started his career as a Commercial and Marketing Manager in the area of robotic and handling factory automation. Since 2003, he has gained a wide experience in business development, international sales, key account and marketing in several HVAC&R multinational companies. Since 2009 at Epta, he has focused on natural refrigeration and environmentally sustainable systems applied to the commercial retail business.

Epta has a leading position as a turnkey system provider and offers to its clients fully comprehensive assistance and training. from the choice of the ideal solution to its implementation and maintenance, including a permanent training center in the CO₂ Excellence Center in the UK.

Michael Miranda

boostHEAT - the new generation of very efficient and renewable heating, hot water and cooling systems. Michael leads boostHEAT business development in the United States and the United Kingdom.

Before joining boostHEAT, Michael held positions at some of the leading organisations in the United States, in the areas of energy efficiency and renewable energy. He received a Master of Architecture from Wentworth Institute of Technology.

Carlos Alberto Montoya

Philip Owen

Philip Owen joined the European Commission in 1990 having spent 12 years in the private sector working with KPMG. He has had a varied career with the Commission spending a number of years in DG Competition dealing with both merger and State aid cases including State aid to the automotive sector between 1996 and 1999. This was followed by three years in DG Regional Policy managing a number of Objective 1 and 2 programmes. He was in DG Environment from 2002 to 2010 having been in charge of the financial management Unit and well as the LIFE programme (DG Environment's project funding initiative).

After briefly following transport and air quality issues, Philip Owen took up responsibility for his current post, in DG Climate Action, in mid-February 2010. This post encompasses climate action policy for transport, road vehicles as well as dealing with ozone and fluorinated gas issues and the UN's Montreal Protocol.

Georgios Patkos

Mr. Patkos worked as Delhaize's Director of the Technical Department until the end of July 2015. In this role, he was in charge of all the new constructions projects, remodelings and maintenance of all the stores and warehouses in Belgium and Luxembourg. He was appointed as the Contract Manager at Delhaize in November 2005. His primary responsibility was to streamline all existing maintenance and service contracts in all EU banners.

Before joining Delhaize Group, he worked for Johnson Controls, as a global market leader in automotive systems and in facility management and control as a Refrigeration Manager. In that position, he took care of the account management for, among others, Delhaize, Carrefour, Cora and Shell. Before that, he was CEO of Schatten for several years until the merge with Johnsons Controls in 2002.

He studied refrigeration in Greece, where he was born, and also at the Institut of Arts et Métiers in Brussels. Mr. Patkos followed a management course at the Solvay Business School and has been Vice President of the “Union Belge des Frigoristes” for many years.

Clare Perry

Clare Perry has worked with the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) since 1998. As a climate campaign leader, she currently leads EIA’s climate campaign, which aims to reduce emissions of fluorinated gases and improve enforcement of multilateral environmental agreements designed to curb trade in harmful chemicals. She has attended meetings of the Montreal Protocol since 2007, was closely involved in the revision of the EU F-Gas Regulation, and advocates the use of climate-friendly alternatives to HFCs in multiple fora. Clare graduated from the University of Southampton in 1993 with a BSc in biology and subsequently gained a Masters degree in coastal zone management.

Lionel Pourcheresse

Lionel Pourcheresse is Senior Manager Sustainability & Product Solutions for Carrier Transicold Truck Trailer Europe, Middle East, Africa & Russia. He is in charge of defining Carrier Transicold Europe Sustainability Strategy, and ensuring the coordination with all functions that have an impact on sustainability, in and out. He is also focusing on positioning all products and services as the most sustainable solutions.

During Lionel’s 17 years within Carrier Transicold, he has held several increasing roles in Technical Support, Network Development, Sales and Marketing Product Management.

Davide Refosco

Davide Refosco graduated in Chemical Engineering at the University of Padova (Italy). Today he is the Export Area Manager of SCM Frigo. Prior to this, Reosco worked in Alfa Laval's R&D department, designing, testing and developing new BPHSES. Resoco also worked at Domnick Hunter Hiross, where he was in charge of Product Development and at ONDA as Export Sales Manager S&T. During his career, Refosco has gained a varied experience in the field of heat exchangers and refrigeration units.

Paul Rivet

Paul Rivet is a specialist on refrigeration in the food industry, retail and ice rinks. After working in the industry as a contractor for many years, today Rivet works as consultant at AF Consulting. His main duties are to support and to advise end users regarding new technologies including the use of natural refrigerants, ice slurry, secondary fluids and energy savings. For 20 years, Rivet has been in charge of industrial refrigeration, cold stores and energy trainings at the French Institute of Industrial Refrigeration in Paris. Today, he is the Vice President of commission D2 of IIR and continues supplying training courses mainly based on CO₂, NH₃ and energy savings.

Juan Carlos Rodríguez

Juan Carlos Rodríguez, has an experience of more than 15 years in the industrial refrigeration market, specially focused in natural refrigerants application (Ammonia and CO₂).
After a long period in a complete solutions manufacturer, complemented with the education of future refrigeration technicians in a High School, he is currently in charge of the Engineering Management of “Johnson Controls España, S.L.”, coordinating the design and development of new refrigeration plant projects, and implementation of energy efficiency improvements in existing ones.

Jörgen Rogstam

Jörgen Rogstam has in his 20 year career been dedicated to the refrigeration field starting off as researcher (PhD student) at the Royal Institute of Technology with research on natural refrigerants. With a specific passion for CO₂, which started in the automotive industry in year 2000, he has pushed the use of CO₂ in to other applications where ice rinks are one of them.

Today he applies a scientific approach to applications and fields which may not have seen that before such as ice rinks. The working field is international with assignments mainly in Europe and North America. He also teaches students on a University level as well as refrigeration technicians in the art of using CO₂ as refrigerant.

Gabriel Romero

Gabriel Romero started at AuchanSuper Spain in 2010, in the technical department, taking responsibility for the engineering area specially the energy efficiency. He has developed several plans for the renovation of the commercial refrigeration. Since 2013 has taken responsibility for the technical direction of AuchanSuper Spain. He is a graduate in Industrial Engineering from the Advanced Polytechnic Center of Zaragoza (Spain).

Olaf Schulze

Olaf Schulze is the Director Energy Management at Metro AG. From 2005 to 2013, he was the Managing Director of Metro Proper-ties Energy Management GmbH. Previously, Schulze has worked at Europower Energy GmbH as the Head of Legal and Human Resources and at Geberit Mapress GmbH as the Head of Legal and Insurance.

Garry Shaw

Johnson Controls is a world leader in providing energy efficient refrigeration solutions. Garry is technically and commercially astute in his field and is the main contributor for the sales of Industrial Refrigeration capital projects within UK & Ireland. His knowledge of Project Engineering and Execution has been a major building block in establishing Johnson Controls with many key clients over the past 10 years.

Sidi Menad Si Ahmed

Recently retired from his position as the Director of the Montreal Protocol Branch at UNIDO, Mr. Si Ahmed is shecco's International Chief Advisor.

Originally a meteorologist with a specialisation on numerical forecast, he graduated from the Institut Hydrometeorologique de Formation et de Recherche of Oran (Algeria) and the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (atmospheric pollution).

Before joining UNIDO as a Protocol Coordinator, and later as a Director of the Multilateral Environmental Agreements Branch, Mr. Si Ahmed was the Director on Environmental Studies at the Ministry of Environment in Algeria. He was also a lecturer on Environmental Impact Assesment at the University of Algiers.

Jürgen Süß

Dr.-Ing. Jürgen Süß joint end 2013 the efficient energy and acts today as CTO. The company deals with the commercialization of chiller units using water as refrigerant.

Before, from early 2011, Dr. Süß was CEO at Cofely Refrigeration, an industrial refrigeration manufacture in Lindau, Germany. Previously, he had a 13 years assignment at Danfoss, Denmark, as Vice President R&D of Automatic Controls after he held various management positions within technology and business development at the company. Dr. Süß holds a refrigeration Ph.D. of Hannover University and is active in various scientific committees and international refrigeration associations.

Bente Tranholm-Schwarz

Since 2010 Bente Tranholm Schwarz is deputy Head of Unit in DG Climate Action in the European Commission responsible for, inter alia, protecting the ozone layer and the climate system against adverse effects of ozone depleting substances and fluorinated gases.

From 2004 to 2009 she was in charge of State aid policy development in DG Competition where she also worked as a national expert between 1996 and 1999. Before she joined the European Commission she worked for the Danish Ministry of Economics and Business Affairs.

She began her career in 1994 and from 1999-2001 she was the Assistant to the State Secretary. Between 2001 and 2004 she was posted as Industry and Maritime Counsellor at the Danish Permanent Representation to the European Union.

Raniero Trinchieri

Raniero graduated as Mechanical Engineer at “La Sapienza” University of Rome. Since 2005 he works in ENEA (Laboratory of Thermal Fluid-Dynamics Applied to Energy Systems - Technical Unit for Advanced Technologies for Energy and Industry) where he was involved in applied research on different aspects of the two-phase thermo-fluid dynamics. Currently, is studying issues related to the replacement of CFCs and HCFCs in refrigeration and air conditioning with natural fluids (CO₂ in particular), as the experimental evaluation of global performances of prototypes and components of the thermodynamic circuit with reference to particular applications. During his work experience he collaborated on several group projects, also as technical manager of the research team. He has attended several master thesis in engineering, and has participated in several national and international conferences and he has published papers on Italian and international journals.

Menno Van der Hoff

Since April 2014, Menno is leading the development of the TripleAqua Heat Pump at Uniechemie (NL) and he is responsible for the design and technology of this HVAC heat pump climate control system. By applying active and passive thermal storage, natural refrigerants and optimized transfer of energy, a zero carbon footprint sustainable solution was created. Prior to that, he was the EU International Product Manager HVAC at Colt International Ltd, UK.

Menno has patented several designs, such as Apparatus and Method for Influencing the temperature in a Building (2013). In 2009, he received The Cooling Industry Award 2009 UK and the H&V News Award 2009 UK Environmental initiative of the year. He was also awarded the NVKL Koeltrofee (Cool Trophy) 2010-2011 at VSK Utrecht, NL for a propylene decentral cascade heat pump system. Through his original work, he has achieved results reducing the GHG emissions directly and indirectly from HVAC systems. He strives to build new and innovative business without the use of ozone depleting chemicals and synthetic refrigerants.

Florian Veyssilier

Florian Veyssilier graduated from the Ecole des Mines d'Ales engineering school in France. Since 2011, he has been a policy adviser in the general directorate for risk prevention of the French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy. In particular, he is responsible for the implementation in France of the FGas regulation and the national regulation that applies to fluorinated greenhouse gases and ozone depleting substances. He is also one of the French delegates in the Montreal Protocol negociations, and especially involved in HFC amendment talks. Previously, he worked for 4 years in the IT industry as a software developer, including 3 years in Amadeus IT Group in Sophia-Antipolis.

Stuart Webb

Stuart Webb supports the development and deployment of new technologies at Carrier Commercial Refrigeration Europe, with a primary focus on CO₂ refrigeration and integrated systems. He is involved in tracking, mapping and analysing the market uptake of natural refrigerants for Carrier throughout Europe.

Stuart is based in the United Kingdom, with a background in project management and project engineering. He joined Carrier in 2006 and possesses a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Glasgow.

Erik Wiedenmann

Erik Wiedenmann is working for Frigo Consulting Ltd., a Swiss consultant active in the fields of refrigeration systems for retail and industrial applications with focus on sub- and transcritical systems with CO₂. Over the past years he has gained comprehensive experience in engineering sustainable solutions with natural refrigerants and has been involved in the design and realization of several innovative sub- and transcritical CO₂ refrigeration systems. Since the summer 2013 he is in the research and development department of Frigo Consulting Ltd. and committed to implement innovative and sustainable technologies.

Erik Wiedenmann has gained a Bachelor degree in system engineering in 2012 and has previously worked as computer scientist.

Shigeru Yoshida

Mr. Yoshida joined Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Co. Ltd. in 1995 as a design engineer of air-conditioner. Today he is the Engineering Manager for the Heat Pump Designing Group of Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Division of the company. Since 2010, he has been designing CO₂ heat pump water heaters.

Marek Zgliczynski

Marek Zgliczynski studied at the Turin Politechnic in Italy where he earned his degree in mechanical engineering. In 1979, after completing his degree, Marek began his career as a researcher and project leader of new product development at Aspera Spa. 

A few years later, Marek transitioned to Embraco, becoming the Manager of Compressor Design. His successful efforts led to many promotions, including European Commercial Product and Technology Manager, Commercial Refrigeration Product Corporate Director and Corporate Fellow Researcher for the Commercial Refrigeration Segment. 

His main responsibility includes the development of household and light commercial refrigeration products. He also provides technical assistance to the sales team in order to promote Embraco products that align with customer feedback. 

Throughout his career, Marek has earned three U.S. patents and Gold Whirlpool Quality Team Award and he has published several pieces of literature for international conferences and events about refrigeration technology. In 2016, he was elected to a Chair of the IEC/SC61C Committee, in charge of the development of international product safety standards for refrigeration segment. He is also member in several other standardization bodies like ISO TC86/SC1/WG1, CEN TC182WG6 and WG12, IEC SC61DWG16 and UL STP471, Ashrae Member.
