Oliver Javerschek, Project Manager at Bitzer, presented real data about an experimental and empirical study of a second generation CO2 booster system in an Asian climate. He provided a comparison of an optimised R404A / R404A system, an optimised hybrid system R134a / CO2 cascade and a CO2 booster system. In the chosen Asian climate, the optimised hybrid system with R134a and CO2 showed the best annual efficiencies; however, applying a 3rd generation CO2 booster system could shift the results in favor of the CO2 booster system.
