Katsuyoshi Nihei from CO-OP talked about the CO-OP TOSU cold distribution centre, which uses an NH3/CO2 freezing system. The system only uses a small quantity of ammonia, addressing the associated safety concerns. CO2 heat pumps proved space heating. Nihei also spoke about the CO-OP's Onomichi cold logistics centre, which was built in 2012 and uses six units of NH3/CO2 systems and four CO2 heat pumps. The project was awarded the "2012 Japan Prestressed Concrete Institute Award."
