Tecumseh Products Company, an industry leader in the development of R290 and R600a compressors and condensing units for the air conditioning and refrigeration industry, has announced its Bronze Sponsorship of the upcoming ATMOsphere America 2013, which will take place from 18-19 June in Washington, D.C.

Since the development of its first “hermetic” compressor for consumer refrigerators in 1937, Tecumseh has become synonymous with commercial refrigeration and central home air conditioning. In 1953, the company expanded its product line to include automotive air conditioning. Tecumseh’s first high-speed hermetically-sealed compressor for commercial applications was developed in 1959.

Today, with manufacturing facilities on four continents, the American company engineers a full line of hermetically-sealed compressors for residential and specialty air conditioning, home refrigerators and freezers, and commercial refrigeration. In addition, Tecumseh offers a complete line of indoor and outdoor condensing units, evaporator coils, heat pumps, complete refrigeration systems and authorized spare parts.

Hydrocarbon product innovations

For more than 12 years, Tecumseh has been producing hydrocarbon refrigerant-ready compressors. With an eco-friendly compressor line consisting of more than 150 models, Tecumseh has emerged as a global leader when it comes to R290 (propane) and R600a (isobutene) compressors, mainly for commercial refrigeration applications. As strict legislation regarding hydrocarbon use in North America is expected to relax in the coming years, Tecumseh stands poised for the hydrocarbon breakthrough with products such as the AE2 high-efficiency models, a part of the next generation of light-commercial compressors. While these compressors still support traditional refrigerants, their performance is optimized for hydrocarbons R290 and R600a.
