Embraco, a specialist in cooling solutions and a world leader in the hermetic compressor market will support ATMOsphere America 2013 as a Bronze Sponsor. The highly anticipated 2nd annual conference will take place at the Liaison Capitol Hill Hotel in Washington, D.C. from 18-19 June.

Founded in Joinville (SC) in southern Brazil, Embraco initially began producing compressors in 1974 for the Brazilian refrigerator industry, which relied heavily on imported compressors at the time. About a decade later, the Brazilian manufacturer was supplying its products to global markets on five different continents. After 39 years of operation, Embraco products can currently be found in over 80 countries. Today, the company has the capacity to produce over 30 million compressors per year.

Key products

At its manufacturing facilities in Brazil, Italy, China and Slovakia, the company produces, in addition to its compressor range, electrical components, cast iron, and complete cooling systems for home and commercial use. Embraco also manufactures electronic components used in the optimization of appliances by leading home appliance manufacturers. In 2009, Embraco launched the AeroTruck, an innovative HVAC system used by major automakers for truck cabins.

Embraco’s sustainability commitment

One of the first companies to manufacture compressors utilizing alternative cooling gases, such as hydrocarbons, Embraco demonstrates that sustainability is one of its main strategy pillars. Since 2004, Embraco Brazil has been a particpant of the Global Pact, a United Nations initiative for business committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of environment, human rights, labor, and anti-corruption. Embraco Slovakia has been a member of this initiative since 2008 as well.

Embraco also developed a voluntary compressor recycling program at its Brazil plant, known as Top Green. The program ensures that, once the compressor’s useful life is exhausted, the raw materials of the shell are recycled. For this, Embraco provides a proper disposal of the engine and the remaining raw materials. Since beginning in 2000, Top Green has seen the recycling of 1,350,000 units in Brazil alone.
