MicroGroove, which specialises in small tuber copper technology for air conditioning and refrigeration products, has announced that it will be a Bronze Sponsor of the fast-approaching ATMOsphere America 2013. The conference will take place on 18-19 June in Washington DC.

MicroGroove uses small diameter copper tubes to make heat exchanger coils with high heat transfer coefficients for use in commercial and residential air conditioning and refrigeration products. Reducing the diameter of the tube contributes to the mixing or refrigerant turbulence, further improving heat transfer.

MicroGroove's copper tubes are available from a range of suppliers and come in sizes from conventional to small diameters with various wall thickness. For air conditioning and refrigeration applications, the tubes are provided with inner surface enhancements to increase the surface area. Rifling or grooving the inside of the tube helps to mix the refrigerant, homogenizes the refrigerant temperature across any tube section and improves heat transfer performance. Like existing air conditioner coils comprised of round copper tubes and aluminum fins (CTAF coils), which are typically mechanically assembled using tube expansion, MicroGroove copper tubes can also be assembled using tube expansion with minor modifications to the expansion tube.
