Low charge ammonia condensing units, energy and cost efficient ammonia/CO2 refrigeration systems, and a comparative analysis of air cooled, evaporative and hybrid condensers are just some of the topics that will be presented during the Technology Case Study sessions of the upcoming ATMOsphere America 2013, taking place on 18 &19 June in Washington DC.

Ammonia/CO2 System Offers Mainstream Solution by Danfoss

Presented by Danfoss and Cimco Refrigeration, this study focuses on a unique ammonia/CO2 refrigeration solution recently deployed by Canadawide for the expansion of their 60,000 ft2 distribution center/warehouse in Montreal, Canada. The design system uses medium temperature ammonia as the primary refrigerant to cool a single loop of recirculated CO2.

Reducing the ammonia refrigerant charge in the distribution warehouse, lowering annual operating and maintenance costs, and ensuring employee comfort were some of the critical factors observed in this application. The case study presentation will highlight how this solution contributed to energy, installation cost, and maintenance savings for Canadawide, while also demonstrating how this solution is scalable for mainstream deployment.
