Headquartered in Ulm, Germany, Wieland has become one of the most well-known manufacturers of semi-finished and special products in copper and cooper alloys, such as strip, sheet, tubes, rods, wires and sections. Special products include slide bearings, finned tubes and heat exchangers. Wieland materials are used in a variety of sectors including automotive, electronics and electrical engineering, construction & installation, refrigeration, air conditioning and heating systems.

Its over 6,800 employees are located in several manufacturing companies, slitting centres and trading companies within Europe (mainly in Germany with 4,400 workers), as well as in the U.S., South Africa, Singapore, China and India.

Wieland’s 2014 K65 tubes sales doubled compared to 2013

Wieland offers a broad assortment of copper tubes for industrial applications including K65 tubes. These high-tensile copper alloy tubes are designed for connection lines and heat exchangers such as CO2 gas coolers, evaporators and internal heat exchangers.
K65 tubes can be tailor-made to meet customer’s needs and fit in any kind of application, ranging in dimensions from 5mm up to more than 54mm. They are available in both straight length and in level-wound coils.

Key advantages of K65 tubes

  • Mechanical strength of K65 material, enabling the K65 product series for 120 bar to be made with comparatively thin walls
  • K65 tubes can be brazed to K65 fittings manufactured by IBP Conex | Bänninger
  • The light weight of pipelines made of K65 means not only a significant saving in material, but also easier handling, for example when mounting the tubes on ceilings
  • Excellent processing properties
  • High tensile strength and yield strength even after brazing and at high temperatures
  • Processible on existing machinery: brazeable, bendable and expandable
  • Excellent corrosion resistance

The development of CO2 refrigeration solutions together with the K65’s advantages such as its brazeability have fostered its commercialization, doubling sales of tubes compared to 2013. In 2014, the company’s K65 product portfolio was increased with a new size 2 1/8” tube.
