MicroGroove, representing various technologies for the manufacture of heat exchanger coils from smaller-diameter copper tubes for use in AC and refrigeration products, has confirmed that it will be a Bronze sponsor of the upcoming ATMOsphere America conference, which will take place on 25 & 26 June 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Economical and eco-friendly solutions with small copper tubes

MicroGroove technology is widely known for its smaller diameter copper tubes with inner grooves and related manufacturing technology. It allows for the manufacture of heat exchanger coils with high heat transfer coefficients for use in high-efficiency commercial and residential air conditioning (AC) and refrigeration products. These smaller tubes with inner grooves improve efficiency in a variety of ways, as they conduct heat better, shed water easily and require less refrigerant volume than alternatives.

The main advantages of MicroGroove’s small copper tubes include:
  • Cost-effective fabrication and assembly
  • Smaller size, less weight and lower material costs
  • Higher heat transfer coefficients
  • Uses less refrigerant
  • Overall reduction in system cost
  • Excellent durability
Copper tubes come in sizes from conventional to smaller diameters with various wall thicknesses. For air conditioning and refrigeration using high-pressure refrigerants applications, copper tubes are available with 7 mm, 5 mm or smaller diameters with aluminum fins or copper fins. MicroGroove tubes are especially well suited for CO2 applications because hoop strength increases as tube diameter decreases, allowing for higher pressures using the same wall thickness. For propane and other flammable refrigerants, higher heat transfer coefficients allow for a reduction in refrigerant charge. Small diameter tubes dramatically cut down on weight, cost and refrigerant volume compared with 3/8-inch tube coil.

About ATMOsphere America 2015
25 & 26 June at The Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead - Atlanta, Georgia

Through its proven formula of end user and regulatory panels, market trends and technology case study presentations, workshops, networking opportunities and more, ATMOsphere America 2015 will again serve as the forum for discussions in the field of natural refrigerants in North America. The event will be even bigger, targeting between 300-350 industry stakeholders including leading retailers and consumer goods brands, suppliers, government representatives, associations, and more. Site visits and training sessions will also take place on the days before and after the event.
