SuperSmart, a new EU-funded project, will be introduced at an ATMOsphere Europe 2016 pre-event held in the early afternoon of Monday, 18 April in Barcelona. The workshop will be free and open to the public.

SuperSmart aims to achieve both decisive environmental benefits through a fast implementation of efficient heating and cooling solutions, as well as significant economic benefits through reduced energy use in the supermarket sector all across Europe.

The project will work to remove non-technological barriers to the uptake of such solutions, raise the level of expertise among technical and non-technical staff members, and support the introduction of a new European Ecolabel for supermarkets by developing draft criteria for such a label.

The free, public workshop will help present the project to all European actors and interested parties looking to support the SuperSmart objectives. This will include the opportunity for an open exchange of knowledge, with a particular focus on which non-technological barriers need to be addressed and which training needs still exist for stakeholders in the supermarket sector.

Participants will also be able to express interest in or join the “Labelling Board Assembly”, aiming to become the central body for setting the criteria for the European Ecolabel.
