Technology Case Study Session 2 |
Jan Boone presents various field cases with MYCOM industrial refrigeration compressor packages using the natural refrigerant ammonia, installed in Serbia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Slovenia, Russia and Egypt. Technical system data, energy efficiency calculations and comparisons, as well as performance and cost figures, are shown for a brewery, a dairy and a meat processing plant.

The presentation addresses the issues of high carbon emitting, and low energy efficient, cold storage facilities used for fisheries. It also addresses the overall lack of policy and regulatory incentives in Vietnam. Outlined is UNIDO’s initiative to create an opportunity for the conversion of existing installations with low-GWP and energy efficient technologies through resource mobilisation such as co-financing of activities by the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

Erich Wagner, from Alfa Contracting outlines where ammonia screw compressors are used to obtain temperatures for freezing, cooling and processing purposes from -41°C up to -5°C, in the field of megawatt-sized industrial refrigeration plants. The presentation shows efficiency and performance results for single stage screw compressors gerenating temperatures of -30°C or higher, and two-stage or compound screw compressor generating temperatures of -41°C.
