UNIDO ATMOsphere Technology Summit - Natural Solutions for Developing Countries: ATMOsphere is proud to announce their first conference organised in collaboration with a UN agency, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The main objective of the joint UNIDO ATMOsphere Technology Summit is to provide end-users and manufacturers from developing countries, who are active in the Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, Refrigeration (HVAC&R) and foam sectors with practical solutions for overcoming the challenges faced while introducing natural substances as refrigerants, such as CO₂, ammonia, hydrocarbons, water and air.

Taking place on 3 & 4 June 2013, at the UNIDO headquarters in Vienna, this conference will present market trends, policy updates and technology available in developing countries to around 200 industry stakeholders and decision makers from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East as well as North and South America.

26 June 2013 | UNIDO Technology Summit Discusses Leapfrogging High-GWP Refrigerants 4 June 2013: The UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), together with market development company Shecco, convened the ATMOsphere Technology Summit, which brought together 150 representatives from developing and developed countries who explored the possibilities of leapfrogging high global warming substances in the Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, Refrigeration (HVAC&R) and foam sectors.

Raising awareness of safety practices and delivering training of a high standard are identified as crucial for the successful proliferation of natural solutions in developing countries.

7 June 2013 | Sustainable business models for natural refrigerants for developing countriesAt the UNIDO ATMOsphere Technology Summit, in Vienna, Austria, discussions and presentations revealed that CO2 solutions are increasingly being introduced to the food retail sector in Article 5 countries such as South America and South Africa. Successful business models and case studies for CO₂ solutions were presented by Danfoss, Carrier, CAREL and CTA.

6 June 2013 | Solar cooling with absorption chillers leads to 50% lower CO2 emissionsFrom 3-4 June 2013, the UNIDO ATMOsphere Technology Summit brought together decision makers from developing and developed countries to discuss the technical and commercial viability of natural refrigerants. Japanese manufacturer of absorption chillers Kawasaki Thermal Engineering (KTE) presented their long history of absorption chiller technology development and the energy savings possible when utilising this environmentally friendly technology.

6 June 2013 | UNIDO ATMOsphere Technology Summit shows NH3 suitable HCFC alternative from the Ukraine to US Over two days representatives from developing and developed countries gathered at the joint UNIDO ATMOsphere Technology Summit, in Vienna, Austria, to discuss viable, climate friendly alternatives to HCFC refrigerants. Ammonia refrigeration, favoured around the world as a natural solution for the commercial and industrial refrigeration sectors, featured in many presentations, including from Pega Hrnjak, Eric Delforge, Caleb nelson, Jan Boone and Eric Wagner.

6 June 2013 | With HCFCs 'out', Mexico and China share plans as of what is 'in'The plans of major HCFC consuming countries, like China and Brazil, for addressing the gradual phase-out of these substances were discussed during the “UNIDO ATMOsphere Technology Summit - Natural Solutions for Developing Countries”. Future priorities and projects with natural substances that would avoid over-flooding the market with HFCs were talked about, and insights on EU actions to deal with the massive phase-in of climate warming were presented.

At the upcoming UNIDO ATMOsphere conference (June 3-4 Vienna) this topic will be analysed in a Case Study by Godrej India/GIZ Proklima.
