MHI Q-Ton heat pump: high performance, low energy consumption

Suitable for commercial and HORECA applications, the Q-Ton system, which uses CO₂, can be located in either outdoor or indoor areas, as long as there is an unimpeded airflow to the system. Sucess stories achieved with this technology include an installation in the Lancaster Hall Hotel in central London in June 2014 and a recent pilot project launched by the Spanish Hotel Technological Institute (ITH) to promote the use of CO₂ in hotels in Spain.

The heat pump system features the following advantages:

• High capacity and high efficiency, even at low temperature conditions
• Easy, user-friendly operation with touch screen panel control
• Ability to connect up to 16 Q-ton units for up to 480 kW capacity
• Hot water can be generated at night using cheap night-time electricity and stored in a cylinder tank for day time use
• Lower running costs compared to traditional oil or gas boilers

In addition, Q-ton heat pumps were included in the Energy Technology List (ETL) 01 July 2014 and are now eligible for the Enhance Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme.

For the second time, ATMOsphere Asia returns to Tokyo to once again serve as the meeting place for key Asian and international HVAC&R stakeholders to discuss the latest technology and policy developments in the field of natural refrigerants. The conference will feature panel discussions on hot topics, such as updates on F-Gas Regulations in Japan, China, Europe and North & South America, workshops, technology case studies on a variety of different applications as well as great networking opportunities. Highlights will also include a special “Tokyo 2020 Olympics” Session.
