The system enables the waste heat from the refrigeration process to be gathered and used for heating and cooling the supermarket, eliminating the need for traditional heating systems and meeting the store's climate requirements year-round by using an incorporated heat pump. November 2012 marked a milestone of the 500^th store operating with Carrier´s flagship CO₂OLtec® technology.
